Dig Deep
Screenplay
A family friendly drama with time travel elements focusing on a Black cowboy-scientist from the early 1900s. Co-written with Tatiana St. Phard
Awards
Dig Deep is a a top 5 Finalist in the 2025 Greater Philadelphia Film Office’s Set In Philadelphia screenwriting competition.
Concept:
When two girls accidentally summon a 19th-century Black Cowboy, they see him as their ticket to victory in a science competition, until they realize their actions could erase his historic archeological discovery.
Sneak Peek:
Ziara is bold, brilliant, and totally obsessed with going viral. Brielle is quieter, more skeptical, and secretly brilliant in her own right. They’re best friends… kind of. But things get seriously weird when Ziara’s phone accidentally unlocks a mysterious AR feature — and poof! George McJunkin, a real Black cowboy and paleontologist from the 1800s, appears in her living room.
At first, George seems like the ultimate science fair hack — he's literally full of little-known historical facts and he’s surprisingly chill about the 21st century. Together, the girls create a jaw-dropping project and plan to ride their success all the way to victory (with ice cream breaks, of course).
But when another student accuses them of cheating, Ziara and Brielle have to ask some tough questions: Are they using George? Are they telling his story — or rewriting it? And what’s more important — winning or doing the right thing?
As their friendship is tested and their plans fall apart, the girls learn that digging into history means more than just facts — it’s about truth, legacy, and lifting up voices that have been buried too long.
Funny, fast-paced, and full of heart, Dig Deep is a magical time-bending adventure about real history, real friendship, and really weird pranks.
