Freedom's Return
Screenplay
Family Friendly Historical Fiction set in 1825. Based on Actual events
Concept:
In 1825, a 14-year-old free Black teen is kidnapped by a notorious slave trading gang. To survive, he must outwit brutal captors, navigate betrayal, and risk everything to escape — not just for himself, but for the other boys he once tried to leave behind.
Sneak Peek:
Sam Scomp never wanted to be a hero. All he wanted was freedom — a fresh start in Philadelphia, maybe even a job doing trick on horses with the traveling circus. But in the blink of an eye, he’s tricked, shackled, and thrown into the hold of a ship bound south. Alongside three other kidnapped boys, Sam finds himself trapped in the clutches of one of the most feared kidnapping gangs of the 1800s.
Sam is used to fending for himself. He’s quick on his feet, sharp with a plan, and doesn’t need anyone — or so he thinks. But as the boys are forced to march barefoot across the South, Sam’s icy independence is tested by the strength, kindness, and fierce loyalty of Joe, Alex, and Enos. Together, they face beatings, betrayal and the threat of being sold into slavery.
When a near-fatal snakebite leads Sam to a Choctaw village, he gets a taste of freedom and respect — until even that is ripped away. Now, it’s up to Sam to find the courage not only to save himself, but to speak the truth and protect the boys he once tried to leave behind.
Based on true events, Freedom’s Return is a heart-pounding historical adventure about bravery, friendship, and the power of one voice to help change history.
